The course is for anyone wanting to work as health care assistant, health care worker or social care worker with adults or children and young people.

What is included in the qualification?
The qualification will educate learners to understand infections and the surrounding issues, such as its control, causes and the conditions that cause them to thrive. In doing this, it also educates them on how to prevent and even control the spread of infection.

This qualification consists of 4 mandatory units:

Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) (Replaces PTLLS)
Course Description
This part-time Level 3 course is aimed at those interested in assuming a teaching role, or wanting to practise as a tutor, trainer and/or instructor of young people and adults. This qualification meets the basic minimum standard required to enable workers to teach students aged 16-19 and even adults in varying settings like further education colleges; adult and community and work-centred learning environments; and voluntary, community, public and private organisations. Upon acquiring this qualification, the learner reaches the threshold required to teach in the Lifelong Learning and Skills Sector.

Who is it for?
This qualification is an introductory teaching qualification, which prepares learners for teaching or training in a wide range of contexts. It is a new qualification that replaces PTLLS. The qualification is aimed at individuals with no previous experience of teaching or training.

What is included in the qualification?
The qualification comprises of three units:
• Unit 1 – Roles and Responsibilities of a teacher/trainer and the skills required to create an effective learning environment.
• Unit 2 – A practical unit whereby each learner is required to plan, deliver and evaluate their own 15 minute micro-teach on a subject of their choice. It focuses on the importance of an inclusive learning environment and meeting individual learning needs.
• Unit 3 – Investigates the different types of assessment within teaching and how assessment is an important element of successful teaching.

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (Replaces Teacher Training DTLLS Course)
Course Description
The Diploma in Education and training course is an ideal course for anyone that wants to update their teaching/training qualifications. It will also give you the full teaching qualification in becoming a qualified teacher in further education and is ideal for anyone who wants to find full time or part time work as a teacher in Further Education Colleges. It will ensure that you achieve all the most recent skills and understanding in the teaching subject area.

Who is it for?
This part-time level 5 course is intended for those who are interested in taking an associate teaching role or intending to practise as a tutor, instructor and/or trainer of young people and adults. This qualification will provide you with an excellent standard to enable you to teach students aged 16-19 and adults in a range of settings such as further education colleges, adult and community providers and work-based learning contexts, voluntary, community, public and private organisations. Achievement of this qualification will give you a QTLS to teach in further education. The course will be held on Saturday mornings.

What will I study?
